In this class, you will do multiple major writing assignments which include textual and visual pieces, as well as rhetorical aspects.
Within this blog post, I will show you two class projects that you will be asked to do, and how I executed them.

There are several different assignments and mini projects you will do in this class. One of which is a visual genre based of a current event of your choosing. You can create an infographic, a manga, a meme, or a memo to best address the current event. For example, I chose the banning of transgender females playing on female sports teams. This went into effect on February 5th, 2025, when our president Donald Trump signed the executive order. To portray this message in a way that allows me to add my unique writing skills, I chose to make several memes.

For the same topic of which you chose, you will then be asked to do a textual piece. This includes a letter, memo, editorial, or a blog post. I chose to write a letter because I could let my mind do the talking and allow emotion into the text towards the current event of transgender females not being able to play on female sports teams.

To summarize both mini-projects, you will then be asked to write a reflection on what you have learned during this portion of the class. It is important to note each thing you do, and why it is beneficial to your learning, to enhance your answers to the reflection questions.
I hope this helps in your journey towards the curriculum of English 101 and becoming the writer you have always aspired to be!
